You are Bru.
You need milk for your coffee.
YOH. The stakes are hectic.

Overview

Slip into the underpants of Bru, a strange stoic man-child on a mission: get milk for da coffee. Point and click your way through a fully hand-drawn and animated world, featuring a fully-voiced cast and an original soundtrack.

Inspired by classic point-and-click adventures like Sam & Max: Hit the Road and Day of the Tentacle, this puzzle adventure serves up a healthy dose of ridiculousness that you can complete in a single sitting.

This is the first episode in what I hope will be a trilogy of Bru & Boegie games.

Features

  • One-Button Gameplay: So intuitive, even an Ouma can master it!
  • Interactions deluxe: More unique interactions than you can shake a stick at.
  • Rarefied Humour: Enjoy bizarre characters, non sequiturs and irreverent small-batch bespoke conspiracy theories.
  • Original Hand-Drawn Art & Animation: Made by human hands - nice.
  • Fully-Human Voiced Cast: Almost 1,000 dialogue entries, all fully-voiced by real people.
  • Original Music Score: Catchy tunes to make you feel kiff.
  • Mini-Games! Stop the intrusive thoughts from infiltrating your mind in 'Meditation HERO', and collect all 15 stickers scattered around the world to unlock a surprise!
  • You Can’t Die: Low stress, plenty lols.

Controls

Mouse:

  • Left-click: Interact / Use
  • Right-click: Examine

Keyboard (Optional):

  • Esc: Pause / Options to access Save & Load and Audio Options
  • F: Flash Hotspots
  • D: Dab (after you learn it)
  • Tab: Skip Cutscene (*may cause issues)
  • 1-9: Dialogue Options

Tips

  • Click on everything you can! If you don't know what's important to click on, click the lightbulb icon in your inventory at the top to 'Flash Hotspots'.
  • Characters often provide helpful hints in their dialogue.
  • Right-click is to Examine objects. Not entirely necessary but is good for bonus lols, or for more information on an object.
  • Some things can be interacted with multiple times to get multiple responses.
  • Dab near NPCs to get a response!

Hints

🦴 How do I get Doggie Poggie off the map?
Doggie Poggie won’t budge without the right motivation. Have you checked behind the bathroom door? Maybe there’s something there that he might like? Maybe you could put it in his bowl?

🚲 How do I disable the tricycle alarm?
Boegie mentioned hearing the tricycle immobilizer around the couch. If only there was a way to lift that couch… found anything that could help?

🔧 How do I get the tricycle clamp off?
You’ll have to pry it loose. Check inside the fridge - there might be something there that could do the trick.

Walkthrough

I recommend trying to figure out the solutions yourself, exploring the world and interacting with its characters is half the fun! But if you’re stuck, there's no shame in using a walkthrough:

Wake up Bru by clicking on him. Do the tutorial if you like. Head to the bathroom and grab the toilet paper and jack. Close the bathroom door from inside the bathroom to find and collect the bone. Back in the lounge, grab the crowbar from the fridge. Put the bone into Doggie Poggie’s bowl to distract him and nab the map.

Use the jack to lift the couch and grab the tricycle immobilizer underneath - don’t forget to pick up the jack again, you'll need it later! Head outside, use the immobilizer with the tricycle, and pry the wheel clamp off with the crowbar. Hop on the tricycle and cycle to the Shoppie.

That's the end of the demo! The adventure continues in the full game.

- I made this to scratch an itch I've had for years of wanting to make a point-and-click adventure game, as well as to learn Unity. It’s also my first substantial release as an indie game dev, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did making it! 🙏

- I have a further 2 episodes scamped out, and would love to create a trilogy of Bru & Boegie games.

- Are you a gamer, YouTuber, or streamer? I'd be thrilled if you'd like to cover the game! You're welcome to download the PRESS KIT from my site here:

https://www.mikdog.com/bru-boegie-episode-1-get-da-milk/

- If you'd like to see the game translated into other languages, please let me know.

- I stretched a modest 1-month game development grant of R15k (about $820) over 4.5 months of full-time work, using the majority of it to pull favours from friends who contributed script passes, voices, music and sfx to the project (thank you kind friends). ❤️

- You can listen to the original soundtrack below!

- 'Meditation HERO' MiniGame:
Stop the intrusive thoughts from penetrating your mind by clicking them to dissolve them. The thoughts get faster over time! Try to last as long as you can to get a good grade.  Last 50 seconds to earn an A, 55 seconds to earn an A+, and 60 seconds to earn the elusive S-tier.

amazing a funny game lol btw r u by chance from NZ?

Hey R3XT3R - thanks for the kind words! I'm from South Africa - many people confuse the New Zealand or Australian, and South African accents, it's also kind of clipped!

Ohhh ok thank you for replying and sorry about the question lol

(+1)

I dont know how you created this game so well, i love it.

(1 edit)

Hey, thanks for the kind words felilol! To be honest I even surprised myself with this game, just kept adding on to it as I was getting to grips with the tools, I'm thrilled with how it turned out and extremely grateful at the positive response. 🙏 I have a deep love for the point-and-click genre, which helps I think. And I've been doing Bru & Boegie for over 20 years, which also helps 😁

Watch my playthrough! This game was such a blast!

Thank you for playing and sharing this, Unlikely Hero! ❤️

Hello!

My name is Andrey, and I’m a big fan of Get Da Milk. I have a game idea inspired by your style, but with a new story and open-world gameplay.

The story is about my brother Mario and me. One hot day, our mom left for work and told us not to touch the ice cream in the fridge. But Mario, who is a bit darker-skinned and a little chubby, couldn’t resist and opened the fridge. Suddenly, a slow-melting white hand made of vanilla ice cream pulled him inside!

While I was still on the couch, I heard the fridge door close. When I went to check, I found myself in a magical world inside the fridge. This world has different areas — vegetable shelves, food shelves, evil eggs, and a freezer at the top.

I meet Mario there, but he doesn’t want to leave because he is controlled by the vanilla ice cream boss. I tell him he’s under control and we need to escape, but then the vanilla boss captures him again.

During the game, I collect different items and at the end build a weapon to defeat the vanilla boss in the freezer. After we win, we wake up outside the fridge with everything from inside spilled on the floor.

Mom comes back and asks what happened. She wonders if we ate the vanilla boss, but we deny it. Then she notices we have ice cream on our mouths and laughs.

I would love if you could help me create the graphics and characters in your style, or if you could make the game based on this idea. Would you be interested in collaborating or advising me on how to make this project?

Thank you very much for your time

Hi Andrey! Thanks for your comment. I also got your mail (duplicate of this comment) so I guess I'll reply here. I'm afraid I won't be able to help you due to working on my own projects, but I can offer you some advice! Buy the 'Adventure Creator' plugin for Unity (it often goes on sale for 50% off) and watch Chris's (the plugin creator) tutorial videos that walk you through how to make a point and click game. For art, you could hire an artist, or learn how to create it yourself. Best of luck, please comment again if/once you have your playable game/demo up!

Ayo that's Rendog from Hermitcraft! Cool game. Love point and click adventures!!

You would be correct! Ren is one of my oldest buds who happened to be visiting while I was in production with the game. Worked out perfectly. Thanks for the comment! 🙌

Fun

Glad you liked it, thanks for playing!

I don't know how you did it, I know nothing about the series but the thumbnail and the idea of simply getting "da milk" was unignorable,  despite having his hands in his pants all of the time, the main character isn't a creep; and the whole flow makes more sense than most adventure games! I could beat without even glancing at a walkthrough!
The only real complaint of the design is is that Meditation Hero is obnoxiously difficult compared to the rest of the game with a physical mouse (I picture with a touchscreen and 5 fingers it would be miles easier). The right click to examine mechanic is great in theory, but it would be even better as an ESL tool to describe what an object does/is supposed to do, like the crowbar. Sure, the game is probably intended for an adult audience, but the fact you have a text walkthrough in the description probably says something about varying skill levels.

Great game though! Honestly I admire Louise' ability to straight up defuse Bru by taking him as a, well... I'm not sure I can say the word here, it's too funny. LMAO

Hey Reina - thanks so much for your insightful comment and great suggestions! I think you're right re Meditation Hero - I'll probably reduce the difficulty in a future update to make it easier to earn an S-tier (this is supposed to be a fairly relaxing game) and it's an interesting idea re using the right-click as an English Second Language descriptive tool, to not just give the name of an object but also describe what an object does. I might implement this for the second episode.
Again, thanks so much, very useful comment 🙏

10/10, reminds me of those cartoon network animated shows

Thank you AdoptedBagel! 😁 I think I was heavily influenced by 90s Cartoon Network 😅

Well crafted anf easily accessible, even on mobile. I like the detail on the meta-text, the oage with custon headers for controls, hints, etc... Reminds me of playing Sam amd Max with an instruction manual on a '95.

Good music and toonery as well.

This game is a masterpiece, I'm amazed. Very well done, the game is very good, from the gameplay to the music and animation, I recommend it to everyone to try it. It would be great if you made a sequel, it would be a shame if it ended only on this. :)
(+1)

Hi Laganezze, thanks so much for making and sharing this 🙌 absolutely planning on a sequel! 😁

Honestly, in my opinion, Mikdog is a perfect example of what a game developer should be. Super helpful, friendly, honest, and responds thoughtfully to each and every comment on his game. I had a question a couple of days ago and they responded in great detail and went above and beyond responding to my comment. It's so awesome to see a developer who is so engaged with their community and eager to respond to feedback and chat with people. I thought I'd just circle back to this game and give a shoutout to the developer for being so thoughtful and committed to his community. Keep up the amazing work! 😁

Flip, thanks so much for the kind words CodesNorth, can't ask for a better comment than that tbh! 😄🙌❤️

Pretty good game indeed.

Why thank you Akromegalik 🙏 glad you enjoyed it.
