My name is Andrey, and I’m a big fan of Get Da Milk. I have a game idea inspired by your style, but with a new story and open-world gameplay.
The story is about my brother Mario and me. One hot day, our mom left for work and told us not to touch the ice cream in the fridge. But Mario, who is a bit darker-skinned and a little chubby, couldn’t resist and opened the fridge. Suddenly, a slow-melting white hand made of vanilla ice cream pulled him inside!
While I was still on the couch, I heard the fridge door close. When I went to check, I found myself in a magical world inside the fridge. This world has different areas — vegetable shelves, food shelves, evil eggs, and a freezer at the top.
I meet Mario there, but he doesn’t want to leave because he is controlled by the vanilla ice cream boss. I tell him he’s under control and we need to escape, but then the vanilla boss captures him again.
During the game, I collect different items and at the end build a weapon to defeat the vanilla boss in the freezer. After we win, we wake up outside the fridge with everything from inside spilled on the floor.
Mom comes back and asks what happened. She wonders if we ate the vanilla boss, but we deny it. Then she notices we have ice cream on our mouths and laughs.
I would love if you could help me create the graphics and characters in your style, or if you could make the game based on this idea. Would you be interested in collaborating or advising me on how to make this project?
Hi Andrey! Thanks for your comment. I also got your mail (duplicate of this comment) so I guess I'll reply here. I'm afraid I won't be able to help you due to working on my own projects, but I can offer you some advice! Buy the 'Adventure Creator' plugin for Unity (it often goes on sale for 50% off) and watch Chris's (the plugin creator) tutorial videos that walk you through how to make a point and click game. For art, you could hire an artist, or learn how to create it yourself. Best of luck, please comment again if/once you have your playable game/demo up!
You would be correct! Ren is one of my oldest buds who happened to be visiting while I was in production with the game. Worked out perfectly. Thanks for the comment! 🙌
I don't know how you did it, I know nothing about the series but the thumbnail and the idea of simply getting "da milk" was unignorable, despite having his hands in his pants all of the time, the main character isn't a creep; and the whole flow makes more sense than most adventure games! I could beat without even glancing at a walkthrough! The only real complaint of the design is is that Meditation Hero is obnoxiously difficult compared to the rest of the game with a physical mouse (I picture with a touchscreen and 5 fingers it would be miles easier). The right click to examine mechanic is great in theory, but it would be even better as an ESL tool to describe what an object does/is supposed to do, like the crowbar. Sure, the game is probably intended for an adult audience, but the fact you have a text walkthrough in the description probably says something about varying skill levels.
Great game though! Honestly I admire Louise' ability to straight up defuse Bru by taking him as a, well... I'm not sure I can say the word here, it's too funny. LMAO
Hey Reina - thanks so much for your insightful comment and great suggestions! I think you're right re Meditation Hero - I'll probably reduce the difficulty in a future update to make it easier to earn an S-tier (this is supposed to be a fairly relaxing game) and it's an interesting idea re using the right-click as an English Second Language descriptive tool, to not just give the name of an object but also describe what an object does. I might implement this for the second episode. Again, thanks so much, very useful comment 🙏
Well crafted anf easily accessible, even on mobile. I like the detail on the meta-text, the oage with custon headers for controls, hints, etc... Reminds me of playing Sam amd Max with an instruction manual on a '95.
Thank you TheGesticulator - so pleased you made the Sam & Max: Hit the Road connection, that game has fuelled so much of my inspiration and creativity over the years! ❤️
This game is a masterpiece, I'm amazed. Very well done, the game is very good, from the gameplay to the music and animation, I recommend it to everyone to try it. It would be great if you made a sequel, it would be a shame if it ended only on this. :)
Honestly, in my opinion, Mikdog is a perfect example of what a game developer should be. Super helpful, friendly, honest, and responds thoughtfully to each and every comment on his game. I had a question a couple of days ago and they responded in great detail and went above and beyond responding to my comment. It's so awesome to see a developer who is so engaged with their community and eager to respond to feedback and chat with people. I thought I'd just circle back to this game and give a shoutout to the developer for being so thoughtful and committed to his community. Keep up the amazing work! 😁
